Celebrating the craftsmanship, artistry and innocence of a classic plastic toy from a bygone age. I have always been fascinated by the detail and skill involved in creating the humble plastic airfix toy. I wanted to set them up to look like they were under attack as I might have done as a boy when playing with them. It’s amazing to me that such a tiny sculpture can have so much expression and emotion in its face. Sadly, there is barely any information is available about the artists who sculpted the original models. I have combined photography and screen printing to create this homage against my favourite colour.
